What types of specials will I receive?
You will receive a variety of Dinner Specials based on what you choose for preferences and what restaurant owners are willing to offer. You may be offered a complimentary dessert or appetizer, a free entrée on your birthday or simply a new and exotic dish that your favorite restaurant now features. Note that many of the specials will only be available at certain times. Read your email carefully!

How many specials should I expect to receive?
This depends on the number of specials available that match your profile. If you are receiving too many emails you can always limit the days you are available, select only your favorite cuisines and choose your favorite neighborhoods to dine. In addition, if you choose not to receive specials from a particular restaurant, you can add it to your "restaurant filter" list.

How do I stop receiving specials by email?
You can stop receiving emails for a specific time period (e.g. you go away on vacation) by putting the return date in the "resume emails on" field. You can also stop receiving emails from specific restaurants by selecting their name in the "restaurant filter" box. Finally, you can unsubscribe from Dinner Special Menu completely and stop receiving all dinner specials by switching your subscription status. All of the above actions can be done by logging into your account and changing your profile.

Can I recommend a restaurant for Dinner Special Menu?

What is gromco?
Gromco is the company that operates Dinner Special Menu. Other gromco websites include Credit Card Menu and Roommate Menu. You can read more about us here. When you register on any of our sites, your general account settings (email and password) will work on all "sister sites" as well. Of course, only Dinner Special Menu will send you dinner specials and only this site saves your dining preferences - the other two sites have different purposes.

The site says my account exists and I have to log in, but I don't remember ever creating a profile on this site!
Most likely, you have previously registered on our sister site, Roommate Menu (formerly known as Roommate BBS). Simply log in with your email and password and you'll be able to create your Dinner Special Menu profile at once. If you forgot your password, click on the "Forgot Password" link on the registration form and a link allowing you to change it will be sent by email.

What is a "Plain Text" versus "HTML" email?
"Plain Text" emails are regular emails containing only text. "HTML emails" are typically nicer looking because they often include graphics. An HTML email may look like a web page, for example. By now, HTML emails are fairly common, and many people prefer them because they look better. However, a small number of people are still using text-only email client software (such as "Pine") or have modem connections that are too slow to receive emails with images in them. These users may find it inconvenient to receive emails in HTML format.

How do I select non-adjacent options (cuisines or neighborhoods) in a dialog box?
If you are on a PC, hold down the Control key while clicking on choices you want to select. On a Mac, use the Shift / Command Key combination to do the same.
